Signs It’s Time to Visit a Chiropractor

December 16th, 2020

Pain is nature’s way of telling us that something isn’t quite right. Sometimes we attempt to treat the pain on our own. But when those home remedies fail to work, you may notice your slight pain has become debilitating. Now what??

Enter chiropractic care – one of the safest and most effective forms of therapy used to treat a wide range of issues. But when is it the right time to go?? The resident Tampa chiropractor on Team Driven, Dr. Sarah Sponaugle, gives the five telltale signs it’s time to visit a chiropractor.

What is Chiropractic Care?

First, chiropractic care focuses on the body’s natural healing abilities and is often the first step in reducing chronic pain. Treatments typically involve manual therapies such as spinal manipulation, stretching, sustained pressure as well as fitness and nutritional counseling.

Clear Signs It’s Time to Visit a Chiropractor

Chiropractic care treats a variety of conditions, with the following being the most common:

Chronic Headaches or Migraines.

The cause of chronic headaches or migraines stems from a variety of issues, some of which include muscle tension in the neck, joint irritation, dehydration, even malnutrition, and sedentary lifestyle choices.

At Driven Fit + SWS, our chiropractic adjustments and spinal manipulation can help relieve the pain from chronic headaches and migraines by improving blood flow, restoring balance to your spine, and alleviating the tension that builds in your head.

Poor Ergonomic Habits.

Sitting all day at work? This is wreaking havoc on your body! While you may assume that your body is at rest, sitting can put undue stress on various parts of your body.

The same applies to repetitive tasks that promote poor posture and uneven utilization of muscle groups. Regular visits to a chiropractor will provide the tune-ups your body needs to relieve chronic pain and prevent severe issues from occurring.

Persistent Neck Pain.

Do you have trouble turning your head from side to side? Can you get through the day without feeling that persistent pain in your neck?

When the neck pain is persistent and home remedies no longer provide relief, it is time to schedule an appointment with a chiropractor.

Lower Back Pain.

One of the most obvious signs that it’s time to visit a chiropractor is chronic back pain. If you’re struggling to stand up (making a grunting noise?), it’s time to come in to see a doctor.

Honestly, back pains can be caused by many factors from poor posture, wearing the wrong shoes, standing on your feet all day, being in a car accident, the list goes on!

These symptoms indicate the need for chiropractic care:

  • The pain has persisted for at least six weeks.
  • The pain is not going away.
  • The pain is worsening.

It is important to get checked out by a highly trained chiropractor such as Dr. Sponaugle as lower back pain could lead to severe issues or injury.

Chronic Pain in Muscles or Joints.

While living an active lifestyle does a body good, it can also cause pain and discomfort. When the body doesn’t properly recover after exercise or playing sports, it can lead to chronic joint and muscle pain. Regular chiropractor visits are a proactive way to prevent pain and injury!
