Stay Fit This Fall

October 16th, 2020

With darker days and all the seasonal comfort food (hello, pumpkin everything), it gets a little more difficult to stick to our healthy routine during fall. Now is the time to get out there and work because fall is a prime time to get yourself in shape and ready for the holidays.

From making healthy fall meals to setting achievable fitness goals, here is your guide to staying fit this fall season from Team Driven!

Make Smart Choices with Seasonal Food

You can exercise all you want, but you will not reach fitness goals by eating a bad diet!

The good news for all you foodies out there? No fasting this Fall! You can find a ton of seasonal healthy fruits and vegetables to fill you up. Add meal prep to the mix, and you’ve got a winning diet plan.

Incorporate the following fruits and veggies into your diet to max out on nutritional benefits:

  • Apples
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Squash
  • Beets
  • Pears
  • Pumpkins
  • Cranberries
  • Pomegranate
  • Brussel Sprouts

One of the main benefits of working with a trainer at Driven Fit is nutritional guidance! For info on our total lifestyle transformations, call or text (813) 440-3016

Set Tangible Goals & Milestones

Whether your goal is to lose a few pounds, challenge yourself with new workouts, feel more energetic or strong, you’ve got to choose milestones that are challenging, but also within reach.

Write down what these goals are and how you plan to accomplish them, including the “support methods” that will help you succeed, i.e. getting more sleep, letting your muscles recover, eating smaller meals throughout the day to feed muscles, the list goes on.

Example of what we mean…

Goal: Run longer and faster

Milestones: Run 3 times per week. Sign up for a 10k this winter.

Support Methods: Gradually increase time and speed over the course of the next few months. Supplement other forms of cardio and strength.

Take Advantage of the Weather

During the summer, around here we are limited to when (and even if) we can exercise outdoors. When the cool(er) fall weather comes, the game changes. Whether you want to run, walk around the neighborhood, or find an awesome bike path, you have a lot more time to enjoy the fall’s fresh, cool air!

At the same, it is a good idea to continue your indoor workouts. Why? Switching up from outdoor cardio to indoor strength training helps keep your fitness schedule varied, eliminates boredom, and allows you to stay more fit this Fall.

At Driven Fit, we have a ton of indoor and outdoor programs to help keep you motivated throughout fall and winter, some of which include group classes, semi-private, and private personal training

Workout with a Friend

Almost everyone we know is more motivated to work out when it’s with a friend or an “accountability buddy”. For you, it may be a friend, a class, or a top-rated personal trainer. The point is, you’re more likely to stick with something when another person is counting on you to show up.

We’re not saying you can’t exercise independently, but at least once a week, it’s a good idea to have a set date, time, and activity especially to help you achieve your goals over the holiday season.
